United Scrap Metal Traders has been buying and recycling scrap metal in Brisbane since 1987. What started as a small local operation has grown into one of Brisbane’s most trusted scrap metal yards, built on nearly four decades of honest dealing, competitive pricing and genuinely good service.
We are a locally owned Brisbane business and proud of it. While a lot has changed in the recycling industry over the years, the way we do business has not. We treat every customer fairly, pay competitive prices and make the whole process as straightforward as possible. Who We Are
We are a team of experienced metal recycling professionals based at our depot in Murarrie, conveniently located near the Gateway Bridge. Our team has decades of combined experience in the scrap metal industry and that knowledge shows in everything we do, from accurately identifying and grading metals to giving customers honest, practical advice about their scrap.
We work with a wide range of customers every day, from tradies dropping off a ute load of steel offcuts to large commercial and industrial businesses managing significant ongoing scrap streams. Whatever the size of the job, every customer gets the same friendly, professional service from our team.
What We Do
We buy, process and recycle all types of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal. Our drive-through depot at Murarrie is open Monday to Saturday and accepts walk in customers with no appointment needed. We also offer a range of services for commercial and industrial clients including regular scheduled collections, bin supply and certified product destruction.
All materials received at our depot are carefully graded and processed before being exported to smelters worldwide, where they are melted down and turned into new raw materials. Recycling metal uses significantly less energy than producing it from scratch, which means every load we process is a genuine contribution to a more sustainable future.

As part of our commitment to industry standards and best practice, all transactions require valid photo identification and business customers are required to provide a current ABN. These requirements exist to protect the integrity of the recycling industry and the communities we operate in, and we apply them consistently without exception.
Our Environmental Commitment
Metal recycling is one of the most environmentally significant things a business or household can do with their waste. Every tonne of steel recycled saves significant amounts of energy and raw materials compared to producing new steel from ore. The same is true for copper, aluminium, brass and every other metal we process.
