Important: Units Must Be De-Gassed Before Drop Off
Before you load up your trailer and make the trip, there is one important thing to know. All air conditioning units must be de-gassed by a licensed technician before we can accept them at our depot. This applies to every type of unit including split systems, ducted systems and commercial units.
De-gassing is not something we are able to carry out at drop off. It must be done before you arrive. If you bring in an air conditioning unit that has not been de-gassed we will not be able to accept it, and we would hate for you to make a wasted trip. If you are unsure whether your unit has been de-gassed or need help organising it, give us a call before you make the trip and we will point you in the right direction.
What Condition Do They Need to Be In?
We accept air conditioning units in all conditions. Whether your unit is broken, incomplete, rusted or has been sitting outside for years, we are still interested in the metal it contains. You do not need to dismantle it or clean it up before you bring it in. Just make sure it has been de-gassed first and our team will take care of the rest when you arrive.
What Is My Old Air Conditioner Worth?
Air conditioning units contain a mix of valuable metals including copper, aluminium and steel, which is why they are worth recycling rather than dumping. The value of your unit depends on the type and size of the system, the metals it contains and current market conditions.
Larger commercial units and systems with significant copper content will generally return more than smaller domestic units. The best way to get a clear idea of what your units are worth is to give us a call with details of what you have or simply bring them in and we will assess them on the spot. We accommodate utes, trailers and small trucks and no appointment is needed. Just turn up Monday to Saturday during business hours and we will assess your units and pay you on the spot.
If you have a large quantity of commercial units or an unusually large load it is worth calling ahead so we can be ready for you when you arrive.
